National University of Uzbekistan
The National University of Uzbekistan (NUUz) was established in 1918, it is the oldest university in Uzbekistan, it has 13 faculties. The staff of the Department of Applied Ecology responsible for the project has a good experience in the field of Environmental education and Education for sustainable development, since 2000 they have been working on development of various textbooks, tutorials, training courses, and study programs in the above mentioned area at national and regional level. Projects made by project staff include Creation of tutorial for high school “Ecology, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development” (UNESCO project);
- Creation of Uzbek version of UNESCO multimedia program Teaching and Learning for a Sustainable Future;
- Development manual for school teachers “Education for Sustainable Development” (UNESCO project);
- Training for school teachers “Sustainable Development in Curriculum”, in EarthWatch Institute project; and several other projects.
