Uppsala University
Uppsala University (UU) is the oldest university in Northern Europe, founded in 1477. It has 40,000 students and 6,000 employees half of them academic personnel. It has a full spectrum of facilities and the largest faculty of natural sciences and technology in Sweden. This faculty includes the Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) which takes part in UZWATER the proposed Tempus project. This Centre also includes the coordinating secretariat of the Baltic University Programme, a network of 220 universities in the Baltic Sea region, BUP, which since 1991 is working on environmental science and sustainable development. The courses BUP offers include all subjects included in the UZWATER project, among them a master level course on Sustainable Water Management. BUP has over the years produced a series of textbooks, films and other study materials.
